Financial assistance for treatment-related costs

Mountain Family Center is the fiscal agent for the Taking Steps for Cancer fund which exists to ease the financial burden of treatment for Grand County residents battling cancer. Because no cancer treatment is available in the county, patients often must travel long distances, up to several times per week, to receive medical care. Gas, lodging, meals and other expenses can add up, and the Cancer Fund is available to help cover these expenses. Assistance is available regardless of income or insurance status, and each client can receive up to $5,000 per year in reimbursement. Community members can also receive up to $1,500 in reimbursement for out-of-pocket costs related to cancer screening, such as mammograms, ultrasounds, colonoscopies, etc.
